The California Reading and Literature Project at Loyola Marymount University will be hosting a SLD Standards Training in April. This training will provide an opportunity for participants to understand the design and organization of California's new SLD standards and their relationship to the Common Core en Espanol. Time will be provided to share ideas on how to use the new SLD standards when planning for Spanish learner instruction across content areas.

Full day parking fee is $15.00. Parking is available in University Hall on levels P2 & P3.

Jorge Cuevas Antillon is a renowned biliteracy/multilingualism advocate, teacher, professional development provider and dual language curriculum writer. His expertise comes from decades in public school education, as a teacher, reading coach, school/district administrator, graduate school university instructor, textbook author and educational grant writer/manager. Currently, he is honored to be the national and state steward of Common Core en esponal as the District Advisor for Curriculum and Instruction at San Diego County Office of Education. He also enjoys partnering with the SSU College of Education faculty where he also prepares teacher candidates for their biliteracy classrooms. In his spare time, Jorge facilitates various scholarship committees for multilingual first generation college-going high school graduating seniors throughout San Diego County. He also serves on the board for Community HousingWorks, a California nonprofit producing affordable housing for thousands of California formerly homeless individuals as well as modest income families and seniors across California.
